A
two-year sponsorship agreement is signed with the
world famous jeweller Cartier. The Gentlemen Drivers
Trophy becomes the “Pasha Driver Trophy by Cartier”.
Following a request from Count Riccardo Agusta, who
wishes to enter a Venturi in the 24 Hours of Le
Mans, a new evolution, called the 500 LM, is
developed and presented to the
competitors. For the first race of the second
season, 20 extra Trophy 400s are ordered, bringing
the total number of manufactured cars to 74. The
Venturi Trophy is the largest
European single-make series with an average of 65
cars per event. For the manufacturer's first
appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, five of the
seven entered Venturis complete the race. In order
to give the LM owners the opportunity to compete
against Porsche and Ferrari, Stéphane Ratel
organises the first GT race in France. Two weeks
later, in association with Jürgen Barth and Patrick
Peter, the BPR Organisation is born.
